Projects

In 2000 CEPI Eurokraft and Eurosac jointly sponsored and participated in the production of a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for the distribution of goods in paper sacks. The production was made by Chalmers Industriteknik in Gothenburg, Sweden with a critical Review by CML in Leiden, Holland.

Additional LCI studies were completed in 2005 and in 2009, these times by Packforsk – now Innventia – in Sweden. Considerable environmental improvements have been proven from report to report. The latest report also includes Carbon Footprint values for paper as well as for sacks. The reports can be found under Members Info on this website.

Our data from these LCAs/LCIs have been used also outside of our organization, for instance by Ecobilan in France and PIRA in UK, mainly for various carrier bag studies.

In 2005 CEPI Eurokraft commissioned a comprehensive report from PIRA International Ltd in UK. The report is called "The Future of Kraft Paper for Flexible Packaging". Initially it was only available to those of our members who have co-sponsored the project but can now be bought direct from PIRA.
